POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN
TEMPORAL OR SPATIO-TEMPORAL DATABASE SYSTEMS

AND

AN ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION IN
DATABASE SYSTEMS

The Department of Computer Science, Aalborg University, has openings
for post-doctoral studies in the area of temporal or spatio-temporal
database systems under the CHOROCHRONOS project.

The department also invites candidates in the area of database systems
to apply for an assistant professor position. The successful
candidate will join the the database systems group, which currently
consists of a team of 7 researchers that primarily conduct research
within temporal database management. This position is for three
years, starting August 1, 1997, or shortly thereafter, with an
application deadline of April 1. Applicants for this position should

csj@cs.auc.dk. The remainder of this message applies exclusively to
the post-doctoral positions.

CHOROCHRONOS is a 3 year research program funded by the European Com-
mission under the Training and Mobility for Researchers program. A
major goal of Training and Mobility for Researchers (TMR) networks is
to provide an excellent environment for the training of young
researchers. For additional information about CHOROCHRONOS, please see

Candidates for post-doctoral studies can apply for appointments whose
typical length is 12 months. A successful candidate must satisfy a
number of requirements imposed by the European Commission.
Specifically, the prospective candidate

+ must be less than 35 years of age at the time of the appointment,

+ must be the holder of a doctoral degree, and

+ must be a national of a Member State of the Community or of an
Associated State (Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Israel), but not
a national of Denmark.

Applications must include the following information.

a) Contact addresses, including home and office phone numbers and
email address.
b) Personal information, such as date of birth.
c) Educational background, including dates, institutions, and grade or
class.
d) Research experience, including a list of publications.
e) A proposal for the research activity that the candidate intends to
carry out.
f) Desired starting date and length of the appointment (the
appointment must end on July 31, 1999, by the latest)
g) Names and addresses of three referees, including telephone numbers
and email addresses.
h) A declaration by the candidate stating that he/she meets the above
requirements.
