The Information Science Program in the School of Information Sciences
invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant
Professor level beginning with the 1997-1998 academic year. Candidates
should have a PhD in Information Science, Computer Science, or a related
field, with teaching and research interests in the area of database
management systems with possible application to object-oriented systems,
client-server systems, geographic information systems, information
retrieval, knowledge-based systems, or database design.

The Information Science Program is in the Department of Information Science
and Telecommunications. The department has 18 faculty members and offers
doctoral, masters and bachelors degrees in information science and masters
and doctoral degrees in telecommunications. The department computing
facilities include a variety of workstations and microcomputers, networked
to a Sun sever and the University system, which includes such specialized
resources as a Cray Y-MP supercomputer, a Connection machine, and a
graphics and CAD laboratory. Information about the department and its
