TECHNICAL SESSION: Multimedia database management

IN

International Conference on Imaging Science, Systems, and Technology
CISST'97

June 30 - July 2, 1997
Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Recent advances in image, audio, and video acquisition, processing, storage,
and
display technologies have made the use of multimedia data more affordable,
practical,
and widespread. Furthermore, with the advent of the World-wide web, multimedia
repositories are becoming available online. To harness the rich semantic and
visual
information content manifested in the data, multimedia database systems are
indispensable.

Original papers reporting recent research on advances in the following areas
(not exclusive) are sought:

multimedia data modeling,

algorithms for extracting features and high-level semantics,

algorithms and indexing techniques for efficient query processing,

methods for dealing with user subjectivity in the interpretation
of the multimedia data,

query languages/specification schemes,

distributed multimedia database management, and

system architectures and implementation experiences.

SUBMISSION:

Please submit (hardcopy or postscript) 4 copies of the extended
abstract (5-page) of your paper by February 12, 1997 to:
