The 3rd International Workshop on Multimedia Information Systems
follows upon the success of the first and second workshops in
this series that were held in Arlington, VA, and West Point, NY,respectively.
The workshop provides a forum for presenting original unpublished
research results, practical experiences, and innovative ideas in
multimedia systems. Submissions have been refereed by the members of the
Program Committee and selected based on technical merit and their relevance
to the aims of the workshop.
Proceedings containing all accepted papers will be distributed
at the workshop.

The Workshop will be held in Como, a city located
near Milan, which overlooks the lake of Como, one of the most beautiful
lakes in Northern Italy. The city has many historical remains, from the
Middle Age up to the Renaissance and Baroque times. The conference center
is located in Villa Olmo, an imposing neoclassic building of
the 18th century, now in trust of the Como Town Council and often
used as a conference center.
