CALL FOR PAPERS

The Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and Hypermedia Systems (SBMIDIA'98),
previously edited as Workshop on Multimedia and Hypermedia Systems, has now
become an annual event sponsored by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC).

SBMIDIA'98 is the main forum in South America for the dissemination of the
latest results in theory, systems and applications of multimedia and
hypermedia technology, as well as human-computer interaction.

SBMIDIA'98 programme contains technical sessions, tutorials, short courses
and panels, and also the exibition of software and equipments.


CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS

Authors are invited to submit papers reporting original, finished and ongoing
research work related to all aspects of Multimedia and Hypermedia Systems.
Accepted papers will appear in the Workshop Proceedings.

. Formal Methods for Multimedia/Hypermedia Systems
. Methods for the Design of the Human-Computer Interaction
. Support for the Designer of HCI: Guidelines, Metrics and Prototyping
. Evaluation of User-Computer Interaction


SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Authors are invited to submit their contribution electronically (in postscript
ou MSWORD) to the program commitee chair (address below) by the submission
deadline. Please ensure that your email address is present, current and
correct in all correspondence.

Papers should be written in Portuguese or English. Papers should be formatted
in A4 paper (29,7 x 21,0 cm) using 12pt Times New Roman font, with an average
of 40 to 45 lines per page, single column. Papers must have a maximum of 12
pages, including figures, tables, diagrams, references and appendices, all
in black and write. The first page must include the title, authors'
complete name, affiliation, postal and electronic address and a short
abstract in English. The body of the paper should start soon after the
abstract.

Accepted papers will appear in the proceedings with a 70% reduction. Therefore,
we advise participants to avoid small details in figures and tables, since
they may be missed.

CRITERIA FOR PAPERS ACCEPTANCE

Papers will be reviewed by three referees, taking into account accuracy,
clarity, originality, significance of achieved results and quality of
presentation.

Authors must send an accompaning message indicating subject classification of
their contribution within the Symposium topics of interest.

IMPORTANT DATES

Papers submission : February 13, 1998

Notification of acceptance: March 27, 1998

Final version of papers: April 10, 1998
