The Department of Computer Science invites applications for=20
two faculty positions.

Assistant professor (50%) in Programming and=20
Elementary Computer Science (M/F)
--------------------------------------------

- Degree required: Ph. D. in Computer Science, or Ph. D. in=20
Applied Sciences, or Ph. D. in Engineering, or equivalent=20
academic curriculum;
- Teaching duties: Introduction to Computer Science, to the=20
main concepts of programming and of information systems=20
development. Tutoring of undergraduate students, supervision=20
of theses by graduate and post-graduate students.
- Research duties: according to the applicant's project,=20
research could be conducted either in the field of teaching=20
methods for computer science (teaching methods relative to=20
education or to professional development situations), or=20
in any field of programming in relation to current trends=20
in information systems, such as the design of distributed=20
systems and programming methods related to emerging=20
technologies (JAVA, CORBA, etc.);
- Applications must be received by March 31, 1998.

Assistant professor (100%) in Telecommunications and
Distributed Information Systems (M/F)

- Degree required: Ph. D. in Computer Science, or Ph. D. in=20
Applied Sciences, or Ph. D. in Engineering, or equivalent=20
academic curriculum;
- Teaching duties: Teleinformatics (functions and boundaries of=20
telecommunications; ISO and DOD models; elementary concepts=20
in protocols, services and standards of physical and logical=20
layers; network technologies; application of stochastic=20
processes to networks; principles for the design of distributed=20
information systems; etc.). Tutoring of undergraduate students,=20
supervision of theses by graduate and post-graduate students.
- Research duties: Research should be conducted, on the one hand,=20
in high-level technology assessment of all ISO layers (and,=20
particularly, of functions and boundaries of new techniques)=20
and, on the other hand, in topics such as distributed objects,=20
methodology and realization of design tools for teleinformatics=20
solutions, assessment of performance and costs of teleinformatics=20
solutions, etc.
- Applications must be received by March 31, 1998.
