SCOPE:
~~~~~~
The software industry is in the midst of a major shift in technology from
static, monolithic systems to the era of distributed objects and
components. The remarkable level of interest in the first Enterprise
Distributed Object Computing (EDOC '97) Workshop demonstrated that this
transformation is well underway. However, there remain some major
challenges to be overcome if distributed objects and components are to
fulfill their full potential for solving enterprise problems.
The goal of the EDOC workshops is to provide a leading forum for the
exchange of ideas and results in this rapidly developing field of
computing, and to establish a new community of researchers and industry
experts to address the enterprise issues associated with distributed
object technology. Building on the success of the first EDOC workshop,
EDOC '98 will focus on securing high-quality papers and tutorials from
around the world, and will provide ample opportunities for discussion and
debate. In addition, there will relevant panel sessions with substantial
time for open discussions.
EDOC '98 will target two interrelated categories of topics. The first group
will deal with the specification of enterprise models for distributed
systems. This includes issues related to the specification of roles,
policies, business objects and their relationships in open distributed
systems. The second group will address the problems of implementing systems
specified by enterprise models using currently available distributed
object technologies (e.g., CORBA, DCOM, Java-RMI, TINA, RM-ODP). This
includes issues related to architectural models, technology bridges and the
general problem of middleware selection and application.
TOPICS:
~~~~~~~

The program committee seeks research results, experience reports and case
studies related to all aspects of enterprise distributed object computing,
including such topics as:

- Distributed object architectures and frameworks
- Distributed business objects
- Analysis and design methods
- Metamodeling architectures
- Collaborative and workflow systems
- ODP enterprise language and business modeling
- UML for enterprise applications
- Enterprise policy, management and security
- Enterprise Quality of Service
- Traders, brokers, and agents for enterprise solutions
- Application of the above technologies in vertical application
domains such as telecomunnications, business and financial systems

Papers must be of high quality and will be evaluated for originality,
significance, insight, clarity and their relevance to the enterprise
aspects of distributed object computing.

IMPORTANT DATES:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
June 1st, 1998: Papers due
August 10, 1998: Notification of acceptance
