The Universite catholique de Louvain (UCL), in Louvain-la-Neuve
(LLN), Belgium, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track
academic position in Information Systems at the IAG Management School

The Universite catholique de Louvain is one of the oldest European
university. It offers a rich undergraduate and graduate program to more
than 20,000 students in 10 Faculties located in Louvain-la-Neuve and Woluwe
(Brussels).

Within easy commuting distance from Brussels (about 30 km), the LLN
campus was started in 1968, when the UCL moved from the city of Leuven.
It is an original integration of academic life into a growing town of
more than 16,000 inhabitants. It offers many amenities of a modern town
in an attractive country environment.

The IAG School of Management offers several programs in management to
more than 1,200 students. Teaching and research are organized in 7 units:
Quantitative Methods and Information Systems; Finance; Operations
Management; Marketing; Business Policy; Human Resources Management;
Actuarial Sciences. The IAG currently has 7 open academic positions in
a total of about 30.

The new faculty member will teach graduate and undergraduate courses
on information systems, with an emphasis on information system design and
use. Courses may also include programming languages and their practice.
Research activities should develop in similar areas, like the application
of modern application technology to business problems.

The new faculty member will advise undergraduate and doctoral students.
He/she is expected to submit research proposals to funding agencies and
business institutions.

Qualifications:
- Doctorate, with appropriate knowledge in informatics and in management.
- Research and teaching experience.
- Ability to organize and supervise a research team.
- Proficiency in the French language, both spoken and written.
- Significant experience acquired abroad or outside of the academic world.

Start date: September 1, 1998

For fullest consideration, applications should be sent to the Rector of
the UCL (1 Place de l'Universite, 1348 Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium),
with reference "ESPO 98/07", by February 15, 1998. However, the position
may remain open until filled. A certified copy of diplomas should be
included, as well as a resume, a list of publications with the abstract
of the five most significant ones, and the name and address of four
international experts, not at the UCL, for reference. A copy of the
application should also be sent to Professor A. de Bethune, president of
the IAG Management School, UCL, 1 place des Doyens, 1348 Louvain-la-Neuve,
Belgium.
