DATABASE LAB - SWISS FEDERAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (EPFL)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------

We are very happy that one of our senior researchers has got an excellent
career opportunity in another research institution. This leaves us in search
of an equally excellent candidate to fill the vacant position.

A SENIOR RESEARCHER, or a POSTDOC with some years of experience,
is what we are looking for. Contract is on a yearly basis, normally up to
six years

A good research record and demonstrated capability to work in a team and
for a team is required. Equally important is the ability to define and
coordinate
a research project, or a development project in cooperation with industry.

Major current research themes within the lab are:
- conceptual modeling
- spatio-temporal databases
- database semantic interoperability
- visual interfaces

Spatial data mining and image query by content are new ongoing projects.
Industrial cooperation is mainly on audio archives and spatial databases.

EPFL is in Lausanne and is a French-speaking institution. Therefore some
fluency in French is preferred as teaching is part of the duties.

Alternatively, we are also interested in ENGINEERS willing to participate
into software development for international projects supported by the
European Community.

For both positions, send a detailed CV with references and indication of
preferred themes of interest to:
