XIII Brazilian Symposium on Database Systems
SBBD'98

Maringa, 12-14 October 1998

PRELIMINARY CALL FOR PAPERS

The Brazilian Symposium on Database Systems (SBBD) is an annual event
sponsored by the Brazilian Computer Society. It is a major event in
computing in the country, and aims at disseminating both theoretical
and practical results of research in the field. The symposium is
well-known for the quality of the technical papers, as well as the
invited talks delivered by renowned international speakers.

The XIII SBBD will be held at the State University of Maringa.
Programmed activities include technical sessions, tutorials, panels
and tool demonstrations. The XII Brazilian Symposium on Software
Engineering will be held at the same place from October 14 to 16; both
events will be organized by one local arrangements committee.

Authors are encouraged to submit papers describing relevant, original
and unpublished research related (but not restricted to) the following
topics:

- Database theory and algorithms
- Human-computer interaction
- DBMS implementation aspects
- Object oriented databases
- Active, deductive, temporal and spatial databases
- Cooperative databases
- Multimedia and Hypermedia databases
- Extensible systems
- Parallel and distributed databases
- Knowledge discovery in databases
- Data modelling and database design techniques
- Database support for advanced applications
- Data mining, workflow and data warehouses
- Textual and semi-structured databases

INTERNATIONAL TRACK

The Symposium will for the first time host an international track, in
which all papers will be written and presented in English.
