The Department of Mathematical Sciences invites applications for a
tenure-track position as Assistant Professor, specializing in Computer
Science. Initial appointment is for 4 years, 9 months per year, beginning
August 1, 1998. The position requires a Ph.D. in Computer Science by the
appointment date and a commitment to high quality research and teaching.
Applicants with a research specialty in a systems area are of particular
interest; exceptional candidates in other areas may be considered.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences provides a congenial environment
for cooperation between computer scientists, mathematicians, and
statisticians. Current computer science faculty have active research
programs in database and knowledge-base systems, image processing,
complexity theory, algorithms, and networks. The department offers a B.S.
in Computer Science, accredited by CSAB, and is planning an M.S. degree.
