Assistant Professors

The Computing & Software Systems (CSS) program at the University of
Washington, Bothell announces the availability of two tenure-track,
assistant professor positions, one each in the following specialty
areas: application programming (object-oriented programming, algorithm
development, software engineering, networking, hardware architecture)
and systems analysis (human computer interaction, database
design/development, process reengineering). (Under unusual
circumstances and commensurate with the qualifications of the
individual, appointment may be made at the rank of associate professor
or professor.)

In its eighth year of operation, the Bothell campus of the University
of Washington is an innovative institution located 18 miles north of
the Seattle cam pus. It is in the middle of a high-tech corridor
featuring industry leaders in aerospace, computing and biotechnology.
The University of Washington, Bothell faculty and students benefit
from the many resources available from the University of Washington,
Seattle while working within a smaller institution experiencing
dynamic growth.

CSS PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
This new degree program develops skills and competencies associated
with life-long learning, critical thinking, problem-solving,
communication and management. Students gain contemporary technical
experience during their course of study in the application
programming, systems analysis and information engineering
concentrations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES:
Candidates will have a doctorate (required prior to date of
appointment) in a relevant field. Successful candidates will be
expected to teach a variety of courses, conduct scholarly research,
and contribute to program and institution building in this innovative,
interdisciplinary environment. Faculty are also expected to advise
students during their internship with industry/community partners.
Appointments will begin September 16, 1998.
