<http://www.uni-koblenz.de/ag-ki/welcome-e.html>
Department of Computer Science
University of Koblenz-Landau, Germany.
=============================================================

Our group is headed by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Furbach and consists of 7
researchers and 1 PhD student (as of now). We are engaged in basic
research and application-oriented development in the areas of
automated deduction, non-monotonic reasoning, and deductive databases.

We are currently looking for an outstanding scientific staff for our
research project on "Disjunctive Logic Programming". This project is
headed by Dr. Juergen Dix and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Furbach and funded by
the DFG (German Research Council). Please consult our web-page at the
URL <http://www.uni-koblenz.de/ag-ki/DLP/> for more details on this
project. The research position is available from January 1, 1998, for
2 years. Salaries are payed according to BAT IIa.

The research topic of the project is the development of an extended
logic programming system that allows non-monotonic negation and
indefinite information through disjunction. The current status of the
project is described in:
Ch. Aravindan, J. Dix and I. Niemelae, DisLoP: A research project on
Disjunctive Logic Programming, AI Communications 4, 1997 (also
available from our homepage).

In the next two years we plan to investigate non-trivial applications
of our methods (like in diagnosis, planning, linguistics,
web-agents etc.).

We prefer candidates having a PhD in Computer Science or a comparable
qualification. Previous experience in the area of Automated Deduction
and Logic Programming is indispensable.

Please send your application documents as soon as possible to:

etc. Although knowledge of German is not presupposed, basic knowledge
will be appreciated.
