Faculty Positions in Computer Science

The University of California at Riverside invites applications for
tenure-track or tenured faculty positions in the Department of Computer
Science, starting in the 1998-99 academic year. Applicants should have
an earned Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field.
Candidates for a junior position should demonstrate evidence of outstanding
potential in research and teaching. Candidates for a senior position must
have established an exceptional record of achievement in research and
teaching. Candidates in all areas are encouraged to apply. However, the
area of computer systems - including such specialties as architecture,
databases, operating systems and software engineering -- is of particular
interest. Salary level will be competitive and commensurate with the
appointment rank and qualifications of the candidate.

UCR is a major research institution and a member of the nine-campus
University of California System, widely regarded as the most distinguished
system of public higher education in the United States. The College
currently has resource commitments to hire an additional 25 faculty members
over the next five years. We also expect to increase the undergraduate
enrollment to 900 and graduate enrollment to 170 in this timeframe.
Additional programs in Computer Engineering and Management are under
development. The College is located in a state-of-the art building,
Bourns Hall. The external yearly research funding for the College is in
excess of seven million dollars. Graduate degrees in computer science are
offered at the M.S. and Ph.D. levels.

Riverside, located about 60 miles away from Los Angeles, offers easy access
to mountains, ocean beaches, cultural activities, and other attractions.
