I'm very much looking forward to continuing as Chair for a second term
starting next year. We will be expanding by six faculty positions in
the next four years so as to build upon the great hires we've made in
recent years.
This year we've identified databases, digital libraries, and data warehouses
as focal points in one of our searches. We've got a great environment
here at Duke and a beautiful new building. We're doing some really
novel work in spatial indexes, query selectivity estimation, GIS applications,
programming environments for external memory and networks of workstations,
and memory hierarchy issues.
We're searching at both the junior (tenure-track) and senior (tenured)
level. If you're interested in a position or have any good suggestions,
please drop me a line right away. Feel free to
circulate this message and encourage people to give me a call.
