The aim of DEXA 98 is to present both research contributions in the area =
of
data and expert systems and a large spectrum of already implemented or ju=
st
being developed applications. DEXA will offer the opportunity to extensiv=
ely
discuss requirements, problems, and solutions in the field. The workshop =
and
conference should inspire a fruitful dialogue between developers in
practice, users of database and expert systems, and scientists working in
the field.

The Program Committee will assign accepted papers to the workshop if they
are better suited for the workshop.
All accepted conference papers will be published in =84Lecture Notes in
Computer Science" (LNCS) by Springer Verlag.=09

The DEXA 98 Program Committee invites proposals for the Workshop Program =
of
DEXA which is held in the period =20
26th - 28th August. The workshops are intended to provide opportunity to
meet and discuss selected topics on Database and Expert Systems. Members
from all sections of the Database and Expert Systems community are invite=
d
to submit workshop proposals for review. Workshops will be typically
half-day or full day in length, although two-day proposals will be
considered. Attendees at workshops must register for the DEXA-conference.

Requirements for Submission:

l Title of the workshop
2 A brief technical description of the workshop, identifying specific
technical issues that will its focus.
3 The names, postal addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of th=
e
proposed workshop organising committee. This committee should consist=
of at
least three people knowledgeable in the technical issues to be addres=
sed by
the workshop.
3 The name of one member of the organising committee who is designat=
ed
as the primary contact.
4 Estimated number of participants.
5 Length of the Workshop.

Timetable:

All proposals should be submitted by electronic mail to
rwagner@faw.uni-linz.ac.at in plain ASCII text as soon as possible, but n=
ot
later than December 20, 1997. Organisers will be notified of the committe=
e=92s
decision two weeks after the submission but not later than January 7, 199=
8.

Each workshop organising committee will be responsible for producing a Ca=
ll
for Participation in the workshop and select the participants. The DEXA
committee will make the Call for Participation at the DEXA 98 WWW server.=
By
May 15, 1998, they must provide a list of workshop participants with name=
s,
postal addresses, and e-mail addresses. The papers will be published by I=
EEE
Computer Society Press. The camera ready papers must be sent directly to
IEEE as postscriptfile at the beginning of June.

are missed, or if the number of registered attendees at the workshop is t=

low to support the costs associated with running the workshop.
