CALL FOR PAPERS
---------------

Dear Colleagues,

I would like to inform you and your colleagues about the forthcoming
3rd EO/GEO Web/Internet workshop to be held on February 17th - 19th
in Salzburg, Austria. The workshop will bring together developers of
Web and Internet based systems for Earth Observation, Global change, GIS
and other geo-referenced data. The first two workshops were held in
Paris (1996) and Washington (1997) and demonstrated a strong
and growing interest in this area. A summary of last years workshop

Objective:
-----------
The overall objective will be to discuss current developments and
interoperability issues for the interfacing, searching and accessing of
geospatial data and catalogues via the Web and related Internet
technologies.

Papers:
-------
You are invited to submit extended Abstracts either via
email, or email us a URL. The closing date for submissions
is November 15th. The email address is "eogeo98@geo.sbg.ac.at".
Only electronic submission (preferably in HTML) is forseen.
Selected papers will be presented either in one of the technical sessions
or in poster sessions.
The focus of the workshop is on technical issues and challenges, but there
will also be the opportunity to present current projects.

Technical areas include the following:

1) Resource discovery
(Announcing and identifying geo-resources on the Web)
2) Metadata formats for geographic and temporal data
(indexing or cataloging resources)
3) Design and implementation of Web gateways to catalogue services
Environmental databases, GIS Systems, Map-servers.
(providing WWW access to search, browse, and order data and services)
4) Java Clients, Agents and Middleware, CORBA, OGIS
(Java based clients/agents, middleware/brokers, Open GIS.)
5) Network transparent Applications and Data Access
(Data Formats,Access and visualisation, Remote Applications)

Panel and discussion sessions are expected.
