Call for Workshop/Tutorial Proposals

----------------------------------------------------------------------
1998 Joint International Conference and Symposium on Logic Programming
----------------------------------------------------------------------

15-19 June 1998, Manchester, UK

The 1998 Joint International Conference and Symposium on
Logic Programming JICSLP'98 will be held on 15-19 June 1998 at
the University of Manchester, UK. The conference is the fourth
joint event for the International Conference on Logic Programming
and the International Logic Programming Symposium, and is
the fifteenth conference in each of the two series of
premier international conferences on Logic Programming, both
sponsored by the Association for Logic Programming.

The aim of JICSLP'98 is to present and discuss new theoretical
foundations and practical applications for logic programming, as well
as new research directions and the fundamental relations
between logic programming and other fields of computer science.

Persons wishing to propose a tutorial for JICSLP98 should send an
e-mail to hill@scs.leeds.ac.uk
indicating the subject and possible tutor(s) with a justification
for the recommendation.

The workshops will be held on the 19th/20th June at the end of the
main conference programme.

The role of the post-conference workshops is to provide a
platform for presenting novel ideas in a less formal way than at the
conference itself. It is also a good opportunity for new researchers
to present their work to the community. The topics of the workshops
can cover any area of logic programming as well as cross-disciplinary
topics involving logic programming.
The format of each workshop will be determined by the organizers, but
it is expected that they contain ample time for general discussion.
Workshops can vary in length, but the expected duration will be half
a day upto one day and a half. Having two or three co-organizers for
a workshop is strongly advised.

Persons intending to organize a workshop at JICSLP'98 are invited to
submit a workshop proposal by e-mail to
hill@scs.leeds.ac.uk.

The workshop proposal should clearly indicate:

* the title of the workshop
* the topics this title covers
* discussion of the timeliness and relevance of the workshop
* the name and e-mail address of the organizing persons,
with indication of one of them as the workshop coordinator

Workshop organizers will be responsible for:

* Producing a "Call for Papers" for the workshop and posting it
via various electronic lists and/or other means.
* Providing a brief description of the workshop for the conference
program.
* Reviewing/accepting submitted papers.
* Scheduling workshop activities in collaboration with the local
organizers and the workshop chair.
* Making the accepted papers available to the workshop participants.

The proposals accepted by the Programme Committee will be included in
the conference program and advertised in the call for participation.
