DATABASE DEVELOPMENT Positions

DUTIES: Working as a member of the Database Production Group in
Gene Logic's Bioinformatics System division, participate in the
design and development of Oracle databases supporting Gene Logic's
data production activities. Perform system analysis, define system
requirements and specifications, design and develop databases, develop
test scripts and implement test plans, and write documentation to
install and maintain databases. Following implementation, provide
ongoing database administration, maintenance and support including
database loading, backup, specification and development of quality
control procedures, and functional enhancements.

QUALIFICATIONS: Extensive database development experience is required
in the UNIX and relational DBMS (preferably Oracle) environments,
and in database system analysis and design. Demonstrated experience in
programming in Java and/or C++ and with relational databases.
Applicants with a degree in Computer Science are preferred.

BIOINFORMATICS APPLICATIONS Positions
_____________________________________

DUTIES: Develop analysis software and interfaces for gene expression
analysis. Programs will be written in Java and/or C++ on top of
relational and flat file databases. Develop and maintain a database
to store and retrieve gene expression information. Provide technical
guidance, overview and/or train users in the implementation and
operation of state-of-the-art bioinformatics software and databases.
Maintain knowledge of current bioinformatics system and software
technologies and monitor trends in the global computing environment.
Provide technical support to data processing.

QUALIFICATIONS: Broad and in-depth knowledge and technical expertise in
software and database development. Substantial knowledge of genomics
sequence analysis, gene expression, mapping and related databases.
Familiar with state-of-the-art bioinformatics software. Demonstrated
experience in programming in Java and/or C++ and with relational
databases. Degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent
experience. Experience using and developing sequence analysis tools
(homology searches, gene finding, genetic signals), with Web
applications, Java, sequence assembly, a plus.
