Postdoctoral or doctoral Researcher in resource management for
distributed multimedia system

The System Research group (Load balancing and fault tolerance group) in
the LIP6 (Paris 6 University, France) invites applications for a
post-doctoral or a doctoral position in the area of dynamic resource
management in distributed and heterogeneous multimedia systems. The
appointee will be expected to work fulltime on a french state-funded
Chateaubriant grant. This goal of this research proposition is to
investigate efficient resource allocation algorithms with load profiling
in order to ensure Qos and reliability in distributed and heterogeneous
environments. The work will be done within the framework of the
European-Japanese TOSDHIM project (Kyushu Univ., NACSIS R&D, LIP6).

Expertise in the area of load profiling, parallel processing and
caching would be an advantage. Starting in September 1998, the post is
available for a 12 month period, with a monthly stipend of $1800 for a
doctoral fellow and $2200 for a post-doctoral fellows. Health
insurance and a round trip ticket are also provided.
