Research Associate

Applications are invited for a research associate post on a project
funded under the BBSRC/EPSRC Bioinformatics Programme. The project
will develop improved techniques for automated protein structure prediction
using information derived from the CATH database of protein structural
families (http://www.biochem.ucl.ac.uk/bsm/cath).

The person appointed will develop software for the generation and
iterative refinement of sequence/structure templates used in the
recognition of related protein structures. This will involve the
development of database techniques to support the storage, management and
evolution of that information. Applicants must have strong programming
skills, preferably with some database experience. A background in
biological sciences and/or bioinformatics is desirable.

The appointment will be for 3 years on the RA1A scale at a starting salary
of up to 19,061 pounds (including London allowance). The post is available
from January 1998.
