DATABASE FACULTY POSITION

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

The faculty search described in the announcement below has just been
extended to include database systems as a preferred research area.

Position available at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Department of Computer Science

The Computer Science Department invites applications for tenure-track
positions at all levels. Starting date could be Spring 98 or Fall 98
semester. Postdoctoral and visiting appointments may also be available.
Preference will be given to applicants in experimental computer science,
particularly in distributed systems, networking, parallel processing and
human-computer interactions; however, exceptional candidates in all areas
will be considered. Applicants should have a doctorate in computer science
or a related area and a commitment to excellence in research and teaching.

The Department offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science,
has a multimillion-dollar research program, and excellent computing
facilities. Currently there are 15 full-time faculty members,
approximately 300 undergraduate students, 60 Master's students and
60 Ph.D. students. Send resumes and have at least three reference
