The technical program of DOOD'97 has been distributed via dbworld
two weeks ago. It is available via the conference homepage or, on
request to dood97@cs.uni-bonn.de, electronically. Registrations
for DOOD'97 are possible now - we invite every interested resear-
cher in the field to consider attending DOOD and joining us in
Montreux in December.
There are special rates for student registration (this applies to
registered students proving their status only, not to PhD students
occupying a position as research assistant). The deadline for early
registration is
November 15, 1997.
After that date, a considerable late registration fee will have to
be paid. So please register immediately, if possible.

Conference Venue
----------------
DOOD will be hosted this year in Montreux, one of the most popular resorts in
Switzerland. Ideally situated at the shore of famous Lac Leman, Montreux is
renowned for its attractive scenery of mountains and vineyards and for its
mild
climate, as well as for the well-known cultural events that the city organizes
each year, such as a Jazz festival, classical music and comedy festivals.
A very interesting musical season is given each year and the cultural life is
rich in events all along the Riviera. Montreux itself owns the Auditorium
Strawinsky, a concert hall appreciated by performers from all over the world
because of its beautiful acoustics.
Some cities worth seeing, such as Lausanne, Geneva, Bern, Fribourg and
Lucerne, are within easy reach by car or by train. The beatiful
Chateau de Chillon is situated just outside Montreux. Information
about the Lake Leman Region can be obtained on the Web under URL

The conference will take place at the Montreux Palace, the top-ranked hotel
of the Swiss Riviera, which is particularly well-suited to hosting
international meetings.
Social Events
-------------
An informal welcome reception will take place on Sunday evening, December 7,
in order to give you the opportunity to check-in for the conference and to
meet
other participants in a relaxed atmosphere.
The conference dinner will take place at the "Caveau du Museum",
in Montreux, once the vault of a 13th century monastery, now transformed
into a pleasant and original location where you can experience the Swiss
art of cooking and hospitality.
Registration and Local Arrangements
-----------------------------------
A limited number of rooms have been reserved at the Montreux Palace
at a heavily discounted rate. You may therefore experience the luxury of a
Palace for the price of a lower class hotel. Rooms have also
been reserved in three middle-price or cheap hotels in Montreux, so
that everybody can find suitable accomodation. Participants are res-
ponsible for making their own bookings directly with the hotels (please
mention the conference name to make sure you get the discounted rate).
Reservations are guaranteed until November 8th, on a
first-come first-serve basis. After that, the organization chair in
Lausanne will be pleased to assist you if you encounter any diffi-
culty in finding accomodation. The City of Montreux has a Web page
