Postdoctoral Researcher sought in Content Retrieval of Digital Video

The Multimedia Information Retrieval Research group in the School of Computer
Applications and the Video Coding Group in the School of Electronic Engineering
at Dublin City University invite applications for the post of post-doctoral
researcher in the area of indexing and retrieval of digital video. The
appointee will be expected to work fulltime on a state-funded research project
which investigates ways of indexing, browsing and retrieving from a collection
of digital video material. The work will be done within the framework of the
emerging MPEG-7 standard. The applicant would be expected to hold or be near
to completion of a PhD in computing, engineering or a related discipline.
Expertise in the area of information retrieval from text, image or audio
information would be an advantage. The post is tenable from 1 Jan 1998 though
an earlier appointment is possible. Salary would be at one of the points on
the Assistant Lecturer scale (presently IR 18,693 p.a. but due for an increase
shortly) though appointment at a higher point on this scale is possible. An
initial appointment would be for 12 months with an expected renewal for up to
3 years in total.
