Call for participation

We will have the following symposium in Fukuoka, Japan,
organized by the Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ).

IPSJ International Symposium on
Information Systems and Technologies for
Network Society

Sept. 24-26, 1997

IPSJ (the number of members is about 30000) is the largest computer
community in Japan. In its 55th National Convention we will have the
symposium. The symposium will have 57 papers from all
over the world and the proceedings will be published by World Scientific
before the symposium.
We have over 1200 short papers (!!) in Japanese presented at
17 parallel sessions.

Fukuoka is the central city of Kyushu island, which is called silicon
island because a large amount of Japanese VLSI chips are produced.
Many tourists come from Korea and Taiwan because it is very close
to these places and having many sight-seeing spots.

We made a proposal to have VLDB2000 in Fukuoka. We got the decision
of VLDB endowment from Dr. Kitsuregawa today.

VLDB2000 WILL BE HELD IN EGYPT!!

I hope it is not confidential.

It is a very bad news for us, although I personally like to visit Egypt.

Anyway if you need a good excuse to visit Fukuoka, you should come
to the symposium.

Please remember the name FUKUOKA where we may have VLDB
in near future.

Registration (Proceedings included): 12600Yen, Students 8400Yen,
Members of IPSJ, ACM, KISS
10500Yen
Dinner party 5000Yen extra (on Sept 24 evening)

Please contact Ms. Hitomi Takada at takada@isse.kuis.kyoto-u.ac.jp
