Call for Papers

The National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis and the Open
GIS Consortium Inc. announce an International Conference on Interoperating
Geographic Information Systems, to be held in Santa Barbara, CA, December
3-4, 1997. Topics to be addressed at the conference include, but are not
limited to,

* the current state of research in related disciplines concerning the
technical, semantic, and organizational issues of GIS interoperation;
* case studies of GIS interoperation;
* theoretical frameworks for interoperation;
* interoperation of data and metadata;
* interoperation in GIS application areas, including environmental
modeling; and
* evaluations of alternative approaches.

Authors should submit an extended (1000-word) abstract by e-mail to
i20@ncgia.ucsb.edu prior to September 15, 1997. Full versions of accepted
papers will be due by the conference date and will be published in the
post-conference proceedings.

Venue

The conference will be held in the Radisson Hotel in Santa Barbara, CA. A
block of rooms is being held there. For reservations, identify the NCGIA
Conference on Interoperating GIS group to take advantage of the special
rates provided ($89 plus tax; $79 plus tax government rate). Last date for
reservations to received these rates is November 2, 1997.
