CALL FOR PAPERS FOR A SPECIAL ISSUE OF

JOURNAL OF LOGIC PROGRAMMING

on

LOGIC-BASED HETEROGENEOUS INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Guest editors: Raghu Ramakrishan & V.S. Subrahmanian

Overview:

With the advent of the information superhighway, there is now a vast amount
of information (data and software) accessible through the Internet,
in addition to the many enterprise databases that are connected together
on corporate `intranets'.
Builders of complex software applications are thus faced with the need to
integrate data residing in different sources, and accessible
over some communications network.
In recent years, several research projects have explored the use of
logic-based frameworks for software integration and semantic data
integration. The aim of the proposed special issue
of the Journal of Logic Programming is to highlight such applications.

Topics:

Authors are invited to submit papers on all aspects of the use of logic for
integrating heterogeneous data and software. These aspects include, but are
not limited to:

query languages for heterogeneous data
query optimization in heterogeneous databases
data warehousing
change in heterogeneous data systems
security in heterogeneous systems
reasoning about non-traditional data sources
integration of multiple reasoning paradigms

All contributions will be rigorously refereed for accuracy, appropriateness
and quality.
