The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich),
Department of Computer Science, invites applications for an

Assistant Professor of Computer Science
(Information and Communication Systems)
Emphasis should be put to
- availability, reliability, performance, scalability of large distributed
information systems,
- tools and basic services as infrastructure for the development of such
systems
and modern applications of such future platforms in areas like medical
information systems or digital libraries.

The professor shall lead a research group, teach in his own field of
research and participate in introductory computer science courses.

This assistant professorship has been established to promote the careers of
younger scientists. Initial appointment is for three years, with the
possibility of renewal for an additional three years.

Candidates with internationally recognized research credentials and first
experience in teaching are asked to send their application with a
curriculum vitae, a list containing the five most important publications,
the names of at least three references, and a brief description of research
plans before August 31, 1997 to the President of ETH Zurich, Prof. Dr. J.
N=FCesch, ETH Zentrum, CH-8092 Zurich. In view of the current composition of
its faculty, ETH Zurich specifically encourages female candidatres to apply.
