(DBWORLD) Open junior faculty position in Munich

The Institute for Computer Science at the University of Munich
has an opening for a

junior faculty position (C1) for Computer Science
in the area of spatial and multimedia database systems.

Teaching tasks include participation in graduate and undergraduate
education of computer science majors with a teaching load of 4 hours
per week.

Applicants for this junior faculty position must have a Ph.D. in
computer science. Their research interests should be in one or more
of the following areas:
- spatial and multimedia database systems,
- similarity search,
- indexing high-dimensional spaces,
- query processing of 3D and high-dimensional objects and its
parallelization.

It is expected that applicants will be able to teach in German after
a grace period of at most two years.

of your current research interests, links to your most relevant

The C1 position roughly corresponds to that of an assistant professor.
The position is associated with the Database Systems group of
Professor Hans-Peter Kriegel. An overview of the group and its

Depending on age and marital status, the annual gross salary ranges
from German Marks DM 70,000 to DM 85,000, the annual net salary ranges
from DM 55,000 to DM 70,000.
