Database Security

11th Working Conference on Database Security

August 10 - 13, 1997
Lake Tahoe, California

THE MEETING

The conference provides a forum for presenting original unpublished
research results, practical experiences, and innovative ideas in
database security. REGISTER EARLY, as the conference is limited to
about forty participants so that ample time for discussion and interaction
may occur. Details of the Advance Program may be found at
http://www.cs.rpi.edu/ifip/.

THE LOCATION

The meeting will be held at the Granlibakken resort, which is just
outside Tahoe City, on the north shore of spectacular Lake Tahoe. The
resort is on 74 wooded acres in the seclusion of a picturesque mountain
valley. Granlibakken has six tennis courts and a large, outdoor heated pool.
There is also a wading pool for kids. There are also saunas and an outdoor spa.
You can jog their one-mile par course and walk their forested nature trails.
It is only a short drive to golf, beaches, horseback riding, river rafting,
mountain biking, hiking, etc. If you are bringing family or friends with you,
or want to plan an activity on a free afternoon, the Granlibakken staff will
be happy to make arrangements for you to take advantage of all these
recreational opportunities. For information on the Lake Tahoe area,
see http://www.city.net/countries/united_states/nevada/lake_tahoe/

Granlibakken offers one to six bedroom townhouses as well as suites
comprised of studio and bedroom. Decorated to complement the resort's
natural setting, all rooms, whether suites or bedrooms in townhouses,
feature private entrance and baths, cable TVs and direct dial phones.
Kitchens, fireplaces, dining areas, lofts and decks or patios are
typically shared by the one to six bedrooms of the townhouses.

WEATHER

Summer weather at Lake Tahoe can range from cool to very warm during the
day, to quite cool at night. So it is best to bring your summer clothes
with some sweaters and long pants for cooler days and evenings.
For up-to-the-minute weather information, see:

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Granlibakken resort is just outside Tahoe City, on the north shore of Lake
Tahoe.

Reno Nevada is 45 miles from the hotel. From Reno Tahoe International
Airport in Reno, take Route 80 west to Truckee. Just past Truckee, take
Highway 89 South to Tahoe City. Continue on Highway 89 South for 1/2
mile to Granlibakken Road. Turn right and continue for 3/4 mile to the
deck overhang of the main lodge for registration.
