ADVANCED NETWORK APPLICATIONS DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYSIS

The Systems and Networking Group of the European Bioinformatics Institute
has an open position for a skilled network applications developer with
good general knowledge of network technology.

The successful candidate will have a good general knowledge of Internet
networking technology and issues at all protocol levels and distance
scales, and proven systems / network software development skills. Projects
will include application-specific 'groupware' design and development,
application instrumentation, and implementation of sophisticated
application-oriented network Consortium members and user groups.

WORKSTATION ADMINISTRATION AND ENGINEERING

Job Description : The Systems and Networking Group of the EBI has an open
position for a skilled systems administrator whose special focus would be
desktop systems, including Unix workstations, PCs, and Macs. The group is
responsible for systems infrastructure development, network, systems, and
software integration, and applications development within an organization
newly founded to apply the tools of information technology to genome
research.

DATABASE PROGRAMMERS (2)

Job Description : The EBI acts as both a service and research institute in
the field of bioinformatics, especially as related to genome research and
structural biology. We are seeking computer scientists with experience of
database systems and programming, especially with Oracle, C/C++ and perl.

Qualifications and Experience : Higher training/qualifications would be an
advantage. Experience with CASE tools, DBA activities and biological
databases is desirable.

DATABASE PROGRAMMER

Job Description : The EBI acts as both a service and research institute in
the field of bioinformatics, especially as related to genome research and
structural biology. We are seeking a programmer to support the Swiss-Prot
Protein Sequence Database, contributing to design and implementation of
systems to automate sequence annotation.

Qualifications and Experience : A university degree in computer science or
engineering is required as well as programming experience in C, perl and
Unix.
