(DBWORLD) RESEARCH POSITION IN DB SYSTEMS, GMD-IPSI

The Institute for Integrated Publication- and Information-Systems IPSI
at GMD - German National Research Center for Information Technology - is
performing research in Multimedia Database Management Technology. We are
investigating problems in multimedia data management, heterogeneous
information integration and cooperative work

We are looking for a

POSTDOC (3 years)

who will be engaged in projects in continuous media management,
cooperative transactions and workflow, document management and
biomolecular database applications. The position involves leadership,
research, and prototype implementation in one or more database group
projects. The researcher will also be expected to undertake funding
and organizational tasks, such as proposal and report writing, and
seminar, lecture and workshop organization.

Applicants should have a doctorate in computer science, preferrably with
a
specialization in database management systems. Experience in project
aquisition, cooperation with industry partners and transfer of research
results will be necessary.

We can offer the opportunity to work on exciting problems in an
open-minded interdisciplinary environment. Further qualification
towards the habilitation (degree for the German univeristy career) is
part of the setup of this position due to close collaboration with the
Technical University Darmstadt. The salary is according to the tariff
BAT Ib of the German public service tariff system. The employment can
commence as early as possible.

GMD is aiming at increasing the fraction of women among their
