*** CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS ***

(Our apologies if you receive this message more than once.)
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The Fifth International Conference on Deductive and Object-Oriented
Databases (DOOD'97) will be held on December 8-12, 1997 at Montreux
in Switzerland. In conjunction with the conference, the organizers
plan to have several post-conference workshops.
DOOD'97 workshops are intended to provide opportunities for intensive
discussion and exchange of ideas on specific topics relating to DOOD.
At DOOD'95 in Singapore, two workshops were successfully organized,
Knowledge Integration and Temporal reasoning in DOOD, respectively.

The persons intending to organize a workshop at DOOD'97 are invited
to submit a workshop proposal. The submission should include

- Objectives: a brief description of the workshop,
including background and motivation, novelty and significance.

- Organization: names and affiliations of at least two organizers
(and program committee members if any), with indication of one
responsible organizer and his/her email address.

- Workshop Plans: tentative schedule, estimation of the number
of participants, etc.

Proposals must be written in English, not exceed two pages, either in
plain ASCII form or in LaTeX form. All proposals should be submitted
to the Workshop Chair by EMAIL, no later than JUNE 13, 1997.
Submission in a postscript file is also acceptable.

Each submitted proposal is reviewed by the Workshop Chair and the Conference
Chair, and those well-organized and fit with DOOD will be selected.
The decision will be notified by email to the responsible organizer by
JUNE 27, 1997. The organizers of accepted workshops are requested to
prepare the final Call For Papers and advertise them in appropriate
mailing-lists/newsgroups. It is also encouraged to prepare a Web home page
of each workshop if possible.

For every accepted workshop, DOOD Organizing Committee will prepare a
meeting place, but the preparation of workshop proceedings and their
distribution are left to the organizers of each workshop.
Also, a workshop fee will be decided by the Organizing Committee, which
will cover costs for managing the event.
Each workshop could have a duration of either 1/2 day or full day,
after the conference, depending on the number of participants/contributions.

For further information on DOOD'97, see http://www.cs.uni-bonn.de/~dood97/.
