The Stanford Database Group wishes to hire one or more post-doctoral
Research Associates to begin in the summer or fall of 1997. The
position involves leadership, research, and prototype implementation
in one or more established Database Group projects. Current projects
are in the areas of digital libraries, heterogeneous database
integration, data warehousing, data mining, semistructured data, and
change management. The Research Associate will also be expected to
undertake Database Group funding and organizational tasks, such as
proposal and report writing, sponsor visits, and seminar and workshop
organization. Although research excellence and sound database
background are of critical importance in selecting a candidate, we
will favor candidates who are experienced systems builders and who are
strong speakers and writers.

The Research Associate will interact closely with the Database Group
faculty and graduate students. The initial appointment will be for
one year, but we expect the position to be renewable for further years
if the candidate works out well. For further information on the
Stanford Database Group and the research projects, please see
http://www-db.stanford.edu.

Applicants should send a vita, including the names of at least three
