VACANCY NOTICE

and the United Kingdom) are advised that applications are being sought for
the following position at the Laboratory's Outstation in Hinxton, near
Cambridge, UK:
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS
Applied Computing and Bioinformatics
Grade: 8
Duty Station: Hinxton, near Cambridge, UK
Date of Start: As soon as possible after closing date
Job Description: To participate in a European research project designing and
developing new information retrieval systems which are capable of
interoperating between independent data sources and their services. This
project will utilise leading edge technologies requiring innovative and well
motivated candidates holding a relevant university degree.
Qualifications and Experience: A PhD would be an advantage. Candidates
should be familiar with biological databases and have programming skills in
C++ and/or Java. Experience of database theory and design, WWW and CORBA
would be useful but not essential.
Contract : An initial contract of 3 years' duration is offered. Renewal will
depend on availability of further external funding.
