Workshop on Management of Semistructured Data
---------------------------------------------

Friday, May 16, 1997
Ventana Canyon Resort, Tucson, Arizona

In conjunction with PODS/SIGMOD

CALL FOR PAPERS and ATTENDANCE
------------------------------

Recently we have seen an increased interest in managing data that does
not easily conform to a conventional relational or object-oriented
schema. The reasons for the emergence of such "semistructured" data
are diverse, ranging from the integration of heterogeneous data
sources to new database applications such as biology databases or the
World-Wide-Web.

The purpose of this workshop is to bring together researchers
interested in the design, implementation, and use of systems designed
to manage semistructured data. The topics of interest include, but
are not limited to: data models, query languages, object integration
and correspondence, data loading, data conversion, and implementation
techniques ranging from storage management to query decomposition and
processing.

The workshop will be rather informal and will encourage discussion and
interaction. We invite submissions of short papers (5 pages or less)
covering topics related to the management of semistructured data. An
informal proceedings will be published, and there will be a
registration fee of $50.

PAPER SUBMISSIONS: Please send a postscript file by e-mail
(preferred), or 8 hard-copies, to the address below. The deadline for
