3rd International Workshop on
Rules In Database Systems (RIDS '97)
June 26-28, 1997
University of Skoevde, Sweden

http://www.his.se/ida/~spiff/RIDS97/

Scope
-----
Following the success of RIDS '93 (1st International Workshop on
Rules In Database Systems), and RIDS '95, the successor RIDS '97
will once again bring bring together researchers working on both
theoretical and practical aspects of rules in database systems.

Although extensive work has been carried out on supporting active rules
and deductive rules in database systems, many questions are still open
in order to turn these kinds of database systems into a practical
technology. The RIDS '97 workshop intends to examine the current
state of the art, to present novel and innovative approaches to rule
systems, to discuss experiences with operational systems and real-life
applications, and to identify future trends and developments.

Suggested topics and issues include, but are not limited to:

- application experiences
- architectural issues and implementation experiences
- deductive rules and integrity constraints
- distribution aspects of rules
- performance issues and tuning of active database systems
- rule design, analysis, and simulation
- rules for coordination, cooperation, and workflow management
- rules in multi database environments
- temporal aspects of rules
- theoretical foundations of rules
- tools (debuggers, browsers, etc.)

Paper Submission
----------------
Each submission should include original work not exceeding 20 double
spaced pages or 5000 words. The cover page should include the title,
name and affiliation of the author(s), contact address, email, fax
and telephone.
