The DEXA 97 Program Committee invites proposals for the Workshop Program of
DEXA which is held in the period 1st - 2nd September, immediately prior to
start of the DEXA conference. The workshops are intended to provide
opportunity to meet and discuss selected topics on Database and Expert
Systems. Members from all sections of the Database and Expert Systems
community are invited to submit workshop proposals for review. Workshops
will be typically half-day or full day in length, although two-day proposals
will be considered. Attendees at workshops must register for the
DEXA-conference.

Reqirements for Submission:
---------------------------
+ Title of the workshop
+ A brief technical description of the workshop, identifying specific
technical issues that will its focus.
+ A brief discussion of why the workshop is of interest at this time
+ The names, postal addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of the
proposed workshop organizing committee. This committee should consist of=
at
least three people knowledgeable in the technical issues to be addressed=
by
the workshop.
+ The name of one member of the organizing committee who is designated as
the primary contact.
+ Estimated number of participants.
+ Length of the Workshop.

Timetable:

Each workshop organizing committee will be responsible for producing a Call
for Participation in the workshop and select the participants. The DEXA
committee will make the Call for Participation at the DEXA 97 WWW server. By
April 15, 1997, they must provide a list of workshop participants and the
camera ready papers from the workshop. From each participant the DEXA
committee needs a CV. The DEXA committee will approve the quality of each
workshop and reserves the right to require corrections or reject papers. The
papers will be published by IEEE Computer Society Press. The editor of the
workshop Proceedings will be the workshop chair:

The DEXA Committee reserves the right to cancel any workshop if deadlines
are missed, or if the number of registered attendees at the workshop is too
low to support the costs associated with running the workshop.

The aim of DEXA 97 is to present both research contributions in the area of
data and expert systems and a large spectrum of already implemented or just
being developed applications. DEXA will offer the opportunity to extensively
discuss requirements, problems, and solutions in the field. The workshop and
conference should inspire a fruitful dialogue between developers in
practice, users of database and expert systems, and scientists working in
the field.
