There are several position openings in the InfoSleuth Project at MCC
in Austin, TX.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The InfoSleuth Project and related projects at MCC investigate the use of
agent and database technologies to support information management,
discovery, and analysis in a dynamically changing environment that can
include Internet-accessible data as well as enterprise-wide
heterogenous information sources. Project research areas include:

* Heterogeneous databases (querying, resolution of heterogeneity).
* The use of cooperating, adaptive, and autonomous agents for
information location, access, and manipulation, and the use of
supporting technologies such as KQML and Java.
* The generation and use of workflows/nomadic transactions for information
management and discovery.

REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for candidates, with a background in distributed
systems and either AI or databases. For the AI positions, we seek
candidates with a background in DAI, agent architectures, planning,
and KR. The database candidates should have a background in
multi-database systems and knowledge of industry interoperability
standards.

The positions entails research with development. Candidates must hold
a PhD, or MS with a minimum of two years relevant experience. They
must have good programming skills (implementation of prototypes will
be required); and good communications skills (both oral and written).
Unix and NT background preferred. Experience with C++, Java, CORBA,
and KQML is desirable. (One year post-doc positions may be also
available.)
